Session #60 · 1907–09

Speech #600144065

I rise for the purpose of agreeing very largely with the committee in its discretion which it has exercised this year. The naturalization law was passed in 1906. under the leadership of the gentleman from Colorado . It was the intention at that time to carry out the execution of the law in exactly the way that the Appropriations Committee now. after two years of effort on the part of some of us. has come to. However. the AttorneyGeneral and the United States district attorney are not entirely eliminated. and will not be. The law casts upon them a duty which they must discharge.
