Session #60 · 1907–09

Speech #600143931

Mir. Chairman. I heard with amazement the remarks of the gentlemaif from Iowa on the subject of Chinese exclusion. It is evident that he has never come into contact with the Chinese and other Asiatics in the United States. He lives out there in Iowa. where I dare say they do not see a Chinaman once within a moons age. But I have lived in California for months at a time. and from my personal observation of the people of the Pacific coast and from my personal observation of this question out there I want to corroborate what the gentleman from California has just said.
