I believe. as long as there is in the legislative bodies of this country a proper spirit of understanding and appreciation of the purposes for which the Government is created. If the rights of our forefathers had been hampered and pestered as these pioneers are. they never would have reached the Mississippi River. There would have been no Louisiana purchase. I will say to the Senator from Minnesota. There would have been a stagnant band of struggling. pestered immigrants upon this shore. The same blood that made them rise up and gain their freedom is the blood that is struggling for the same rights in that country today. The idea of taking a State and putting nearly onehalf of it In a forest reserve!
