Session #60 · 1907–09

Speech #600060963

Mr. Speaker. in the first place. I believe that the laws against the importation of contract labor into the United States are absolutely right and ought to be enforced rigidly. In the second place. if the United States courts and the district attorneys and marshals and immigration officers in Hawaii are not enforcing the laws they ought to be "fired" and a new set put in who will enforce the laws. I am in favor of rooting the Chinese. Japanese. and all other Orientals whatsoever out of the Hawaiian Islands and making that a place for white men to live.
