Speech #600056437

We are not in the same class. Mention has been made of those who have migrated to this country from foreign lands and of the oppression practiced upon those of their kindred or race by foreign governments. There is not one of us who has not the most heartfelt sympathy for the downtrodden Jews of Russia. and for all others who suffer wrong in other lands. but do we mean that we are to take up the sword on behalf of all those who dwell in any nation represented by immigrants in this country? If so. we have all Europe to contend with. and not four battle ships. but fifty. is what our programme should be. And again. we have accomplished much more for the oppressed and unfortunate citizens f the Old World in other ways.
