I think that everyone concedes the necessity of a building. but no one seems to know why it should cost $250.000. The gentleman who has charge of this bill does not pretend to say that lie has any information upon which to base the cost of $250.000. The gentlemen who constitute the Colmittee on Immigration will not. I think. say that they believe $250.000 ought to be expended in the construction of this building. Nobody seems to know how the sum of $250.000 was arrived at. All I ask is that the bill granting the authority to construct the building be passed. so that an opportunity may be given to the proper comnittee to investigate the amount of money that may be needed to accomplish the object.
