That the Secretary of the Department of Commerce and Labor be. and he Is hereby. respectfully requested. if not incompatible with the public Interests. to send to the House of Representatives any Information in his possession relative to the introduction of foreign laborers into the State of South Carolina by one E. J. Watson. together with a copy of his solicitors legal opinion. if any be on file In said Department. as to whether said laborers were lawfully admitted to the United States. and a copy of any documents in his possession furnishing the grounds for said opinion. So it seems that a Massachusetts programme is being carried outI desire to say that if there is any man in the Senate who is opposed to the importation of contract labor. I am that man. The Senator from Massachusetts will not go any further than I will along that line.
