Session #59 · 1905–07

Speech #590120394

In the section of this nation that I have the honor to represent in this great body. there are published and ably edited in various languages. over a dozen daily and weekly newspapers and magazines. and I have never heard it even intimated that any of these newspapers were used to propagate the doctrine of antiAmericanism. but know. as a matter of fact. that the contrary is true. These newspapers are practically reproductions of our English dailies. except as to language. and perform a great work in familiarizing those who through no fault of their own can not read English. with the meaning. significance. and value of our institutions. Mr. Chairman. the report of the CommissionerGeneral of Immigration for the fiscal year ending June 30. 1905. classifies rather arbitrarily the Slavonic race into the following subdivisions: Bohemian. Moravian. Bulgarian.
