Session #59 · 1905–07

Speech #590091957

If the Senator will excuse me. I have an impression that there are many StatesI think there are New England Statesthat would be glad to have the privilege of having an agent to represent the interests of the State. without expense to the Government. to exhibit to aliens who come here the benefits that might result from their going to those particular States. It is a scheme. it seems to me. that would tend to prevent their concentration in the great cities. which. after all. to my mind. is the most important thing to be accomplished so far as the army of Immigrants are concerned who come to our shores. I should hope that that part of the amendment at least should be retained in the bill.
