Session #59 · 1905–07

Speech #590088956

If I had any other criticism to make. it would be that the bill is not drastic enough in its punishment of the crimes against the laws entitling aliens to the great boon of American citizenship. No one not familiar with the subject could possibly realize the extent of the evils and the dangers attending this matter of assimilating the alien into our body politic and making citizens that are to help us guard and advance our glorious free institutions. This bill will do much to stop fraud and to help purify the atmosphere in the matter of naturalization. It is therefore entitled to our favorable consideration.
