I will answer that by saying this. that so far as I am able to judgeand I confess I am not thoroughly acquainted with these peoples and their customsI think it is less desirable than the character of immigration that came to this country in the first fifty or seventyfive years of our Republic. and I want to say right here that I do not take to the idea of excluding a race per se. I do not take to the idea of putting a ban on any nationality or race of people. That idea does not find favor in my mind.
