Mr. Chairman. I have been much interested in the speeches made on the floor of this House on the subject of immigration. I find that there are a number of bills that have been introduced on that subject. and that the Committee on Immigration has devoted a great deal of time and labor and thought to an investigation of this subject. I believe that there is need for protection against the present immigration. at least. much of it that has come to our shores of recent years. This is a form of protection that I subscribe to. I do not believe in that protection that is alleged to be the result of the exercise of the taxing power.
