Speech #580075507

Speaker. this is entirely too important a question to be passed offhand on one hearing on behalf of the bill introduced by the gentleman from Alabama . Stnange as he may think it. there are many other bills that have been introduced by people whose ideas are not entirely in accord with that of the gentleman from Alabama . and with all due respect to whatever merits the bill introduced by that gentleman may have. the bills introduced by other Members of this body are entitled to equal consideration. To show that there has been no lack of diligence on the part of the Committee on Immigration. I will state that we have had more meetings this year on this particular question than we have ever had in the many years of my experience as a member of that committee.
