The Democratic Administration of Franklin Pierce directed a treaty to be made for the acquisition of the Hawaiian Islands. It is now American territory. Our flag floats over it. The islands are in a state of industrial depression. In a short time. when our report is in. evidence will be presented showing that skilled laborers. the same as planters and merchants. want Chinese immigration. restricted to agricultural purposes. Nearly everybody who lives there wants it.
