The next amendment of the Committee on Immigration was. on page 1. section 1. after the word "Mexico." at the end of line 6. to insert "or a bona fide resident of the said Dominion or Republics for one year continuously prior to application for admission." so as to read: Or a bona fide resident of said Dominion or Republics for one year continuously prior to application for admission who shall come by steam. sail. or other vessel from any foreign port to any port within the United States. or by any railway or any other mode of transportation. from foreign contiguous territory to the United States.
