Theyareadults. We are giving to these people a participation to that extent in our labor field. Mind you. they are not the class of immigrants that we used to have. Years ago. when the immigration was large. it came from Great Britain. from Germany. and from the northern States of Europe. all welcome here. making good citizens. but now the immigration in a large degree is coming from the eastern borders of Europe and from the south. and in very many instancesin the majority of instancesthey are not desirable additions to our population. Five years from now under a lax administration of the naturalization laws these people would be voters. I do not want the voting power of the United States diluted in that way. I want to see everything that is restrictive in this bill retained in it. and would be glad if much could be added to it.
