I simply want to state to th4 Senate. Mr. President. and to those Senators who are the friends of the Chinese. if there are any such here. who think the legislation proposed by the Committee on Immigration is too drastic. that this amendment is as much in the interest of the Chinese in our insular territory as in the interest of the Government. The fact is. if this amendment is not adopted to the bill. and the amendment of the Senator from Connecticut is adopted and becomes the law. there is nothing in the way of the deportation of every Chinaman in the Philippine Islands.
