I have not come in contact with this class of people. But admit for the sake of the argnment that it is all true. If there is any member of the Senate who opposes either this measure or any other upon the ground that he objects to the policy of Chinese exclusion I do not kmow who he is. For myself. I stand. as I said before. in favor of excluding the Chinese laborer and making the law strong and effective to that end. Therefore. if a majority of the Senate are of the same opinion. I do not see how the discussion of the moral characterof the Chinese can help very much toward the solution of the main question as already stated. If it relates to prostitutes. who have been so much referred to. we have a general law applicable to them. whether they be European or Asiatic. I do think. however. Mr.
