It is proposed to amend the committee amendment. on page 65. line 7. before the word "shall." by striking out the word "he" and inserting "the CommissionerGeneral of Immigration." and after the word "prescribe." in line 8. by inserting " subject to the approval of the Secretary of the Treasury." so as to make the amendment read: Under the supervision and control of the Secretary of the Treasury and under such rules and regulations as the CommissionerGeneral of Immigration shall prescribe subject to the approval of the Secretary of the Treasury. for the proper execution of such laws and the investigation and hearing as to the rights of such Chinese and immigrants to admission into the United States.
