It may be sectional to urge it. but its effects will be injurious upon every industry of the South. We have been laboring there under disadvantages. We have been. however. making a strenuous effort in the way of progress. It was at first slow. but our steps have been gradually accelerated until we have approached the sealed springs of her prosperity. They have just been touched and her wealth revealed and she stands now in the gray dawn. and I hope that no Southern statesman will interpose an obstacle so n s to obscure the sun of her coming splendor. Emigration has just commenced to go within our borders.
