Mr. Speaker. I have listened with a great deal of interest to the remarks made by the distinguished chairman of the Committee on Immigration. the gentleman frQm Missouri . While they are in thorough consonance with his record during the first session of this Congress. being in favor of very liberal rules and laws for the admission of immigrants. I have listened in vain to hear from him some good reason why his motion should prevail. The matter presented to us is of a very simple nature. The Senate has seen fit to amend the bill as it left this House. and in doing so has left out some of our provisions and incorporated others.
