It is proposed to add as additional sections the following: SEC. -. That no person. being a subject or citizen of any foreigngovernment. shall be admitted to citizenship under the laws of the United States who. when application for naturalization is made. can not read correctly the Ten Commandments and the Constitution of the United States printed in some language. SEC. -. That no application for citizenship in the United States and no declaration of intention to become such citizen shall be filed in any court or have validity for any purpose until it shall be first establiihed by proof. to the satisfaction of the court or judge before whom such declaration is made or filed. that such immigrant has. in gond faith. resided in the United States continuously for the period of five years prior to the date of such application.
