In line 9. on page 3. after the word "langage." in the committee amendment. it is proposed to strike out: Except that an aged person. not so able to read and write. who is the parent or grandparent of an admissible immigrant may accompany or be sent for by such immigrant. And insert: But an admissible immigrant over such age of 14 years may bring in with him or send for his wife or parent or grandparent or minor child or grandchild. notwithstanding the inability of such relative to read and write as aforesaid. So that if so amended the clause will read: All persons over 14 years of age who can not read and write the language of their native country or some other language. but an admissible immigrant over such age of 14 years. may bring in with him or send for his wife or parent or grandparent or minor child or grandchild. notwithstanding the inability of such relative to read and write as aforesaid.
