I wish to make a suggestion to the Senator from Maryland. The senior Senator from New York intends to move that the Senate take up a bill submitted by the Secretary of the Treasury excluding anarchists from admission to this country. which has been under consideration by the Committee on Immigration. I can not conceive that any absent Senator would object to the consideration of that bill. and I trust that the attempt will not be made to limit the proceedings of todays session. As the Senator from Maryland is aware. we have been here a very long time. and it is desirable. as we are detained here in this hot weather. that if there is any public business to be done. it shall be transacted. I hope the Senator from Maryland will not. as one of the leaders of the majority in the Senate. undertake to prevent the Senate from proceeding to do all the business upon the transaction of which other leaders on his side are inclined to enter.
