Session #53 · 1893–95

Speech #530132402

In 1982 he was arrested for an unprecedented third time for teaching again and was sentenced to 7 years of hard labor. Josef Begun has been persistent and forcful in his attempts to educate his fellow Jews. Since the Leningrad trials our eyes have been riveted to the condition of Soviet Jews. We have been and must continue to be forceful and persistent in our efforts for Soviet Jews. We must continue to raise our collective voices and let the Soviets know that we will not be silent until there is an end to the nightmares suffered by Soviet Jews and they are allowed to emigrate freely.*
