Speech #530024191

I wish to ask the gentleman from Maine. if he was confronted with the proposition that we have on the Pacific coast in his State. or if it confrontedyou gentlemen in the old Commonwealth of Massachusetts. what would be your action? The gentleman from Massachusetts said it wis a t ivial matter. this mingling of a hundred thousand or more Chinamen in our midst. What did the gentlemans State do with the Indians? That is the battle we have been fighting for so many years. You would not tolerate these people in M Line. You would not tolerate a hundred thousand Mongolian laborers in your State. not for a moment. Suppose you had a hundred thousand laborers from Canada in your State. taking every dollar they earned into Canada. what would you do aboat it? Why. there would be revolution.
