Is not this law sufficiently penl. this law which I have just read. which was passed in 1892 and approved on the 5th of May. passed at the inst.ance of the gentleman from California . whose name it bears. drawn by him. every line and letter of it. so far as we know. prepared by himself. presented to the House by him. and so passed by the House? Why should California. then. say that the other representatives of the United i893. I States in Congress are not willing to treat her justly. as she understands just treatment? Now. this is simply a proposition to extend the time of registration six months. If they fail or do not see fit to comply with the law within that time. there will be a deportation at the expiration of that period. A variety of amendments have been presented. but they are amendments to the general law. I do not think that they are pertinent exactly to this bill.
