It is proposed to amend the resolution so as to read: Resolved. That the Secretary of the Senate be directed to transmit to the Secretary of State a copy of Senate bill numbered 3513. now pending in this body. entitled "A bill for the suspension of immigration for one year." and that the Secretary of State be. and is hereby. directed to inform the Senate. whether the provisions of the said bill absolutely suspending immigration for the period of one year are In conflict with any treaties now existing between the United States and any foreign countries. and. if so. with what countries. and any further information which he may deem necessary for the information of the Senate during the consideration of said bill.
