That the Clerk of the Senate be directed to transmit to the honorable the Secretary of State a copy of Senate bill No. 3513. now pending in this body. entitled "A bill for the suspension of immigration for one year." and that the Secretary of State be. and is hereby. respectfully requested to inform the Senate at his earliest convenience whether the provisions of the said bill absolutely suspending immigration for the period of one year are inconflietwith any treaties now existing between the United States and any foreign countries. and. if so. with what countries. and any further information which he may deem necessary for the information of the Senate in relation to the propriety of the enactment of the said bill in its present form.
