To find a sale its products must go largely out of this country and find a market in sharp competition with like articles produced by the "pauper labor " of Europe. so much complained about. while the product of the American manufacturer is protected. the product of the American farm receives no b3nefit from the law. but the farmer is oppressed and burdened by the law. The Republican party blows hot and cold with the same breath on this question. They tell us they impose a tax on wool to raise its price to its farmer. and they impose four times that amount of taxes on woolen goods to reduce the price to the consumer.
