As Judge McAllister has said. most of the men. the larger proportion of the men. coming now claim to be native born. because the result of a discharge of one of these men is to naturalize him. If the judgment of the court is that he is a nativeborn citizen. and that judgment is not appealed from. how is the fact thereafter to be disputed? I take it that the act of discharge of one claiming to be native born is in fact a naturalization of thtt individual if he is not anative born. and therefore it becomes a very seriousmatter as far as that class of business is concerned. It is not only the introduction of one more Chinaman into the United States. but it makes him a citizen. capable of exercising the elective franchise. and of holding office even of that of the President of the United States.
