Speech #520037165

In every avenue of industry that they invade they drive forth all competitors. As an evidence of their immoral nature I quote from the late Bayard Taylor: It is my deliberate opinion that the Chinese are immoral and the most debased people on the face of the earth. their touch Is pollution. and harsh as the opinion may seem. justice to our own race demands that they should not be allowed to settle on our soil. The socalled merchant class are of the coolie cast. They are industrious and able traders. Their trade within this country. however. is restricted almost exclusively to their own race and they buy only such of our commodities for their local requirements as they can not import from China.
