The report was read. as follows: The Committee on Commerce. to whom was referred Senate bill 1658. providing for the establishment or the customs collection district of North and South Dakota. report that said bill should pass by reason of the fact that the two States aforesaid are not now In a customs collection district. that the north inc of the said proposed district---35 miles in lengthis the boundary line between the United States and tile Dominion of Canada. that tile interests of the customs service and of the people demand a more systematic and perfect inspection along the line than is possible under the present arrangement in order that the law may be enforced and smuggling prevented and unhuwful immigration prevented.
