Public indignation has increased as the facts of this killing have become known. and public sentiment demands that there should be a thorough and searching investigation into the killing of this distinguished political refugee on an American vessel and under the flag of the United States. General Barrundia was in 1885 the minister of war under Barrios. then President of the Republic of Guatemala. He was a man conspicuous in Central America because of his scholarship and of his courage.
