Because the law could not be enforced with it in. Now do members of this House. in obedience to the sentiments of the people of this country. want this contract labor prevented from coming into the country? If they do. they ought to give the officers of this Government just such a lawas we have proposed. and any amendments that may be ingrafted upon this bill will be ingrafted upon it in opposition to the desire of the Solicitor of the Treasury. I hope. therefore. the House will vote down every aimendment that has been proposed to the bill. and will take it just as it has been written by the Solicitor of the Treasury and carefully considered by the Committee on Labor.
