These are the proceedings of a mass meeting of naturalized American citizens of Cuban birth. held at Key West. in the State of Florida. on the 23d of July. 1890. They state as follows: The CubanAmerican citizens. in mass meeting assembled. declare that they have no disposition to shield criminals or disturb the amicable relations existing between two foreign Governments. yet they do most emphatically protest against the means employed by the Spanish Government in arresting American citizens for imaginary crimes committed when Cuba was in a state of revolution. We hold that all men. whether citizens by birth or adoption. are entitled to a fair and impartial trial.
