Twothirds if not fourfifths of all the productions of this wonderful crop pass over the waters into the land of poverty. the land of pauperism. the land of pauper labor. to be worked up into the fabrics of commerce. and yet our lands grow in value and we prosper. although our patrons are the paupers and the pauper spinners and weavers of Europe and Great Britain. We can bear this tax. We do not use any more tin amongst ourselves than is used in other parts of the United States. and there is but one class of our people who are very dependent upon it for comfort.
