That the sum of $75.000. or so much thereof as may be found necessary. be. and the same is hereby. appropriated. out of any moneys in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated. to purchase. or to obtain by condemnation. a site for. and for the erection of. a naval magazine. and that the Secretary of the Navy shall select a site at a safe distance from populous cities and from the shipping of the harbor of New York. Atd the further sum of 75.000. or so much thereof as may be necessary. is hereby appropriated to enable the Secretary of the Treasury to improve said Ellis Island for immigration purposes. The Committee on Military Affairs recommended an amendment. inserting in line 5. section 2. after the word "magazine." the words "with suitable buildings therefor."
