That prejudice is the sole support of many politicians. We want the bill to pass. not because the South will not in future years be able to properly educate her children. but because she is not now doing it. and is not able to do it. and in the mean time hundreds of thousands of her children coming on the stage of manhood and womanhood are taking lowdown places for themselves and their posterity. Educated Northern immigrants come among us and take higher places than our uneducated children can do. It is a magnanimous proposal that the Blair bill makes to immediately put Iinto our State treasuries a sum of money sufficient -to stop present educational destitution in our section. We hope it will be done. because we love humanity. especially our own.
