The area of the proposed State of South Dakota will be about 75.000 square miles and North Dakota the same area or larger. The country is eminently an agricultural country throughout. and capable of supporting as dense a population as any of the States adjoining usMinnesota. Wiscongin. Illinois. Iowa. or Nebraskawhich can be easily shown by reference to the official report on immigration of Dakota and official census reports. The number of farms in Dakota in 1885 was 50.235 in the south and 31.781 in the north. according to the official census. From reliable data there are now nearly 70.000 in the south and over 40.000 in the north.
