I am instructed by the Co.mmittee on Appropriations to report favorably without amendment the bill making an appropriation for the enforcement of the Chinese exclusion act. I should like to have the bill passed now. if there is no objection. By unanimous consent. the Senate. as in Committee of the Whole. proceeded to consider the bill for the purpose of carrying into effect the provisions of the act approved October 1. 1888. entitled "An act a supplement to an act entitled An act to execute certain treaty stipulations relating to Chinese.I approved the 6th day of May. 1882." and for defraying the expenses which may be incurred in the enforcement of that act by the Secretary of the Treasury during the fiscal year 1889 the sum of $50.000. or so much thereof as may be necessary. is appropriated by the bill. The bill was reported to the Senate without amendment. ordered to a third reading. read the third time. and passed.
