If this committee choose to prevent the bringing into market and into use and under taxation all these valuable lands in California. in Nevada. and in great portions of Montana and Idaho and Washington Territory. all they have to do is to adopt this bill as it stands. There isa great imnuigration to the Pacifle slope at this time. Itrust the gentlemn from Penusylvania is not jealous because we are getting a good deal of immigration from his State. We invite them to come. we want them to come. but when they do come there and settle on a piece of land we want to have it surveyed so that they will know the metes and bounds of their property. I hope the amendment will be adopted.
