I am instructed by the Committee to Audit and Control the Contingent Expenses of the Senate. to whom was referred the resolution submitted by the Senator from Ohio March 5.1888. authorizing the Committee on Foreign Relations to employ a stenographer to report hearings in regard to Chinese immigration and other subjects pending before it. to report it favorably without amendment. I ask for its present consideration. The resolution was considered by unanimous consent. and agreed to. as follows: Resolved. That the Committee on Foreign Relations is hereby authorized to employ a stenographer to report hearings in regard to Chinese immigration and other subjects pending before it. the expense to be paid from the contingent fund of the Senate.
