I can not vote for this hill. hecause in my judgment it violates the fundamental principles of the Constitution of the United States and the rights of property. Two of the provisions of this hill provide that proceedings shall be had to annul corporations existing in the Territory of Utah. One of them is the Immigration Society. socallcd. and the other is the Mormon Church. I do not propose to discuss that question. The point to which I direct attention now. and on which I base my action. is that the portion of these sections affecting these corporations provides for settling up the business of th e of ey are declared not to exist any longer. and for paying what is left into the Treasury of the United States. to be applied to the commonschool fund of the Territory.
