At a certain point tile road curved. and lie was ordered by General Wilson to cut across lots to the head of the column and join his regiment. which he said was in advance. This lie proceeded to do. coming out on the road some half a mile aslead of the column. here he was halted and captured by fourteen of the enemys dismounted cavalry. and was quickly hurried into the thick woods to the rear.
