District attorneys shall also be allowed the actual amount paid by thes for necessary transportation to and from theirplaces of abode to places where criminal examinations are held. or from one such place to anoter. SEC. 9. That the fees earned by the clerks of United States courts. the supre:me and district courts of the Territories. and the courts of the District of Coutinbia for services in civil and criminal eases and in naturalization cases. and for making out. certifying. or authenticating all papers. and its bankruptcy proceedings. and for duties of masters is ehancery. or as special commsissioncrs or referees by order of the court. or taking or authenticatingdepositions. issuing certificates admitting attorneys to practice. and in all matters of tiny name and character incident to their office or by virtue or authority of the court. atid as United States commissioners. if holding said oflice. shall lie inclded it their semimitnnual returns to the AttorneyGeneral. and it shall be the duty of the AttorneyGeneral to decide what expenses may le paid by such clerks out of the surplus emolumextts of their offices. At the end of each quarter they shall make outat itemized statement of all costs paid into court in United States eases. showing what disposition has been made of the satme and iii what cases they accrued. atsd submit the saei to the district court. who shall examine the same. and cause such clerks to subscribe as oath to the correctness of each and every itei iii sucs statement. Ifsthejudge approves such statement as correct. tie shall indorse his approval thereot in writing. and the clerk shall thiereupon transmit said statetisent to the AttorneyGeiseral.
