The report is very short. but I can state the matter briefly. The committee gave this claim full attention. There were several items of it. three or four items. and the committee on the. whole concluded there was but one that could be well sustained by thefacts. and they allowed Mr. Jacobs $500 for the services rendered by him at the request of the Department of State in securing the release of an American citizen by naturalization iu San Domingo. The report is very brief. but that is the sum and substance of it. We all agreed that $500 ought to be allowed.
