Senator from Texas is so afraid of. He is afraid that they will say that is a disease which is not a disease. in order to j ustify their continuance in Government employ. but they did not say anything of that kind when they came to investigate the matter thoroughly. After giving plenty of time to deternline in a practical way. they have determined that the disease did not exist. and until that was determined and until they did announce it there was not only a paralysis in that trade. but it stopped the immigration of people into that country. and the effect of it has spread to other States as well. Since that has been done I have seen a dispatch in a Kansas paper to the effect that the governor of that State. under the authority of the law recently passed in Kansas. has been advised by the commission appointed by him to quarantine against cattle to be brought into Kansas from portions of Pennsylvania. Virginia. and Maryland lying east of the Alleghany Mountains. the whole of New Jersey and Delaware. and that part of New York lying south of the north line of Pennsylvania.
