I gave notice yesterday that today. after the morning hour. I would ask the consent of the Senate to take up the House bill on the subject of Chinesi immigration. but thetime having been allotted to the Senator from Iowa I did not make the motion. As the Senator from Mississippi is now about to address the Senate upon the Mississippilevee bill. and as that is a measure of great importance and one which I do not desire to antagonize by an effort to press the consideration of the Chinese bill. I wish to say that as soon as the pending bill is disposed of. if it does not take any longer time than is expected. that is. today or today and tomorrow.
