It is one that no Senator can raise any kind of objection to in reason. In 1656 the United States made a treaty with the united Creek and Seminole nations. which will be found in the collection of treaties published by authority of Congress. By that treaty the Government agreed to appropriate the sum of $250.000. the interest on which was to be paid to the remainder of the Seminole Indians then remaining in Florida. when they should emigrate and join their brethren in the West. Those Indians have never emigrated. they are now in Florida. they are becoming good citizens. they are peaceable people. and the people of Florida are content for them to remain there. The consideration which the United States agreed to receive for that appropriation of money has been paid.
